Ichijo Ekan Sanso & Hokokuji Temple 2024/4/29 15:25
We plan to visit Ichijo Ekan Sanso and Hokokuji Temple. Hoping to do one before lunch and one after. However, there is hardly any lunch places around Jomyoji bus stop.

If there are benches within the two venues, is it ok to sit and eat finger foods like sandwiches or onigiri?

Probably, you can't bring in and eat either of them.
Ichijo Ekan Sanso rents out its lunch area for a fee (it is expensive because it is for groups).

There are not many, but there are cafes between and around the two places.
Or, make lunch time a little later and eat onigiri at other places such as parks.

Is there any places nearby to sit at benches? I tried google street view but couldnft find anywhere close by..
If none then no choice but to have lunch near the station first. Just that I read it gets dark quite fast around that area.

It's not close, but I found a list of rest areas where you can eat and drink in Kamakura.

The rest area of Tsurugaoka Hachiman-gu Shrine (there is a charge, but there are many cheap menus)

It's also good to check at the tourist information center of the station on the day.

Whether it gets dark early or not depends on when you come to Japan.
If it's around June, the sun sets around 19 o'clock.
In December, the sun sets at around 16:30.

In addition, the place where you can sit is posted, so I will link it.
There is a bench in Tsurugaoka Hachimangu.
When I went to Kamakura in February, many people were resting in the clock tower square at the west exit of Kamakura Station.

Hi Haro1210,

Thanks for your feedbacks. Basically Ifm hoping for resting area between Ichijo Ekan Sanso & Hokokuji Temple. If none to be found around there we will just eat lunch in a restaurant near Kamakura Station first before heading out.

No resting areas.
Those locations are only 300m apart.
Residential zone.
Look outside these for resting areas.

On google maps there are several restaurants in that area. Admittedly none is EXACTLY between the two locations but they are only a few 100 meters apart. But there are definitely several options to have lunch in that area instead of having lunch at the station.
